Highly recommended: Depending on the amount of ambient noise, the audio input level should be set manually, but the automatic option also works well.
Use the touchscreen to select a recording format: HD video or DV. Again, though, why get a camera like this and shoot in DV?
All settings can be viewed and managed on the camera's LCD; this includes a mostly informative histogram. The user has all the controls needed, thanks in large part to the camera's intuitive capabilities.
