Here you can see what we have mentioned earlier: any 1.8" drive is clearly inferior to any 2.5" model as soon as the system requires large amounts of data. This PCMark05 benchmark shows the average data transfer rate in MB/s when simulating the launch of Windows XP.
The same point is valid for data writes: the more that needs to be written, the more 1.8" hard drives fall behind.
