The i550 has a print quality equal to the S520 and S750, and is as fast as the S750. The advantage of the i550 is that it costs less than the S750. Its low cost per page makes it suitable for high outputs of up to 70 pages per month. This is not the case for the new HP Deskjets, which cannot be recommended for more than 30 to 40 pages per month.
But when all is said and done, in spite of its good speed and the respectable quality of its prints, the i550 could still be relegated to second place by the impressive features of the i850, which is already available in North America and due for release in Europe in early 2003.
