Via announces "Vista Premium ready" chipset

Via today released the PT890 chipset, which the firm claims is able to run the top performance tier of Microsoft's upcoming operating system. In combination with a DX9-capable graphics card, the chipset can serve as the foundation of a "Vista Premium" system, the company said.
The PT890 supports all Intel processors up to FSB1066 as well as DDR2 memory. The chipset runs on Via's 533 MB/s "V-Link" interface, which connects Via Southbridge's such as the VT8237A. Also integrated are 32-bit/192kHz audio support, up to eight high-speed USB 2.0 ports and 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet.
