The launch of a new set of Intel chips for notebook computers is expected to drive demand for the next generation of advanced memory chip - DDR2 - and help larger memory chipmakers like Samsung Electronics maintain decent selling prices in what was expected to be a weak second quarter.
But Samsung may be one of the few winners among global producers of dynamic random access memory chips, due to its size.
