Advanced Micro Devices and Infineon Technologies, which already have chip plants in Dresden, plan to invest 170 million Euros over the next five years in a center for nanotechnology research there.
The companies signed a memorandum of understanding on the investment, the equivalent of $205 million, at a news conference in Dresden on Monday. The state of Saxony and the federal education ministry will contribute E80 million to the project.
