LG Optimus G Pro Confirmed by Japanese Carrier

Last week we got wind of some potential specs for the LG Optimus G Pro. Previously thought to be called the G2, specs posted to Japanese forum, 2channel, suggested the successor to the Optimus G would feature a 5-inch display with full HD 1080p resolution as well as a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2 GB RAM.

We had expected to wait until Mobile World Congress in February before hearing anything about the Optimus G Pro, however, it seems one Asian carrier has confirmed the device's existence before LG had a chance to make a big reveal. Engadget reports that Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo has confirmed the Optimus G Pro will be part of its spring device lineup (which, again, puts it on track for a MWC reveal). Not only that, but we now have this lovely, crystal-clear photo of the phone.

The carrier listed a spec sheet that includes the previously rumored 5-inch 1080p display, 2 GB of RAM, and 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, as well as 32GB of integrated storage, a microSDXC slot and support for 4G LTE. The launch is scheduled for April, but that's only Japan (obviously). We'll keep you posted on details for other countries.
