Earlier this year we heard rumors that search giant Google was preparing a 7-inch tablet for production in April. Then, in March, we heard additional reports of an Asus-made Nexus tablet that would measure, you guessed it, seven inches in size and would be announced in May. Today brings something else Google tablet-related. The screenshot you see below comes from Rightware's Power Board benchmarking tool (via Android Community). It shows a benchmark result for a device referred to as 'Google Asus Nexus 7' and lists a 720p display and a quad-core Tegra 3 under the hood.
This seems to confirm reports that Google is working on a Nexus tablet and that it's not going with current Nexus smartphone manufacturer Samsung as the hardware partner. It's a little bit surprising, considering Samsung's more than proven itself in the tablet market, but it's refreshing that Google is willing to bring others into the fold and give different manufacturers a shot at producing a Nexus-brand device. This makes rumors of an entire line of Nexus phones produced by a multitude of different manufacturers look a lot more likely.
