If you've recently updated your Windows and are experiencing gaming instability despite owning one of the best graphics cards, the Windows 11 KB5074109 January update may be to blame. Amid reports of framerate drops, gaming artifacts, and black screens, Nvidia has recommended uninstalling the update as a temporary workaround while the chipmaker investigates the issues.

"Even though it started after a Windows 11 update, we are looking into it. As far as I know, the only way to resolve it appears to be uninstalling KB5074109," wrote Manuel, a Nvidia representative, on the official GeForce forums.

This keeps happening and pushing gamers toward Linux.

Again? Will nVidia release another driver update to work around the issue like they did recently? Even uninstalling Windows updates isn't a risk-free procedure -- in fact, it was thought that the January update's boot failures were caused by a failed install that they then failed to successfully rollback, at least for some users.

Another fine job from Microsucks. Their code is so bad they can't even perform updates to repair it. SOS, DD.

And this is why i'm still on Windows 10 and enrolled in Extended Security Updates.

Don't have to wake up in the morning to find out my machine installed some terrible updates at 2am the night before.

That's only a viable short term plan though.

Long term people are going to have to either purchase a Mac, install Linux or buy something that has Linux pre-installed, or LOL Windows 11.
