Launched late last year with an MSRP of $549.99, the Odyssey OLED G5 G50SF is now available on Amazon for $349.99. The Odyssey OLED G50SF features a QD-OLED panel measuring 27-inches with a QHD resolution of 2560×1440, which is currently the sweet spot for PC gaming. It supports up to a 180 Hz refresh rate via DisplayPort and 144 Hz through HDMI. Samsung claims that the display offers a response time of 0.03ms (GTG), essentially offering smooth and responsive visuals during fast action. To protect the OLED panel from potential burn-in Samsung has also implemented several safeguards including Thermal Modulation System that can automatically control brightness and prevent overheating, logo and taskbar detection, and a screen saver option which automatically dims the panel after 10 minutes of inactivity.
In terms of connectivity, the Odyssey OLED G50S includes a DisplayPort 1.2, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The included desk stand is not the best as it doesn’t offer a lot of adjustments, but you can wall-mount it or use a monitor arm as it supports 100×100 VESA standard mounting interface.
With its current discounted price of $349.99, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G5 G50SF undercuts its original $549.99 launch price by a wide margin, making it a viable choice to jump into OLED gaming without paying a premium.
