RAM packages are currently being retailed including a single dummy RAM module next to an actual unit to simulate a high-performance appearance — the 1+1 'value pack' provides a sense of mental comfort while the scarcity of memory intensifies.

The best RAM currently available has grown remarkably pricey and unattainable for many buyers ever since the worldwide memory deficit started. Luckily, V-Color has intervened to provide a solution. The firm has introduced its 1+1 value packs, which ingeniously contain a single genuine memory component paired with a corresponding dummy module. Although your current budget might only support buying one actual memory module, you can still replicate the aesthetic of a dual-module configuration within your system.
- AI data centers are consuming the global inventory of memory and storage.
- Semiconductor shortages impact the automotive sector during the intensifying Nexperia and DRAM crisis.
- Samsung and SK hynix decrease the duration of memory agreements as control over pricing reverts to the manufacturers.
- Memory producers are projected to generate $551 billion through the AI surge.
Spacer units, frequently called dummy modules, have turned into a trendy add-on for PC builders over the last few years. Corsair led the way by introducing its Light Enhancement Kits (LEKs), offering buyers a cost-effective solution to occupy every unused memory slot on their motherboards. These visually identical replicas of authentic memory modules enhance the overall appearance of systems, helping consumers achieve that coveted, fully equipped look. Their sole purpose is cosmetic, though. Although they illuminate and coordinate with your current RGB ecosystem, they don't add to your computer’s memory size or overall speed.
Despite the growing importance of aesthetics in PC building, few memory vendors have fully embraced the concept of dummy or filler memory modules. V-Color is the only brand that has invested significantly in the idea. The firm provides filler modules not just as separate packages but also incorporates them as extra components within several of its current memory sets. Today's announcement marks the launch of new 1+1 DDR5 memory kits designed specifically for AMD systems.

V-Color is launching its new 1+1 value packs from both the Manta Sky and Manta XFinity series, beginning with DDR5-6400 speeds. The manufacturer didn't share the memory timings or whether Intel XMP 3.0 support is present. Given that AMD is the target for these 1+1 value packs, they may only come with AMD EXPO support. The Manta Sky series arrives in a 16GB configuration, while the Manta XFinity series will be available with a slightly larger 24GB option. V-Color has also shared its plans to roll out 2+2 configurations in the future, featuring two genuine memory modules alongside two filler modules for even greater visual appeal.
While V-Color markets the 1+1 value packs for AMD platforms, the company should specifically highlight AMD's Ryzen chips with 3D V-Cache, such as the Ryzen 7 9850XD or the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The enormous L3 cache on AMD's X3D chips serves to balance out the common issues of employing single-channel memory or using slower data speeds, including the basic DDR5-4800. It’s crucial to point out that this is merely a fractional remedy, as a noticeable drop in efficiency persists compared to a perfected dual-channel arrangement. You'll see an even bigger performance regression on vanilla Ryzen 9000 chips that don't have the luxury of the 3D V-Cache.
Understandably, the performance gap will fluctuate based on the particular software or title, because certain tasks and programs are significantly more affected by memory than others. To individuals seeking maximum efficiency, a dual-channel memory setup continues to be the premier benchmark. However, with memory prices currently inflated, it’s easy to see the appeal of cost-effective options like V-Color’s 1+1 memory kits.
