Gigabyte S55U Gaming Monitor: was $999.99 now $499.99 at Amazon

All-time low - half price

Featuring a 4K panel with 132 local dimming zones, 120 Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Atmos speakers, the Gigabyte S55U is a complete package. It provides every gaming and media playback capability you require at a fantastic value, driven by Android TV at its heart.

As the name suggests, the S55U is a 55-inch "gaming monitor" with a 4K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. This display is VA and provides 2ms response speeds, so it isn't optimal for eSports, though relaxed sofa gaming will be perfectly okay. Of greater significance, the S55U features full-array local dimming (FALD) with 132 distinct zones that can deliver an authentic HDR image. It even supports Dolby Vision, which is exceedingly rare for monitors, along with HDR10+ and HLG.

A quantum-dot film is integrated within the screen assembly to enhance color precision; the S55U provides 96% coverage of the DCI-P3 color spectrum. This represents an HDMI 2.1 display, which means EARC is included, while it also features 2x HDMI 2.0, many USB ports, Ethernet, and a headphone jack. This display features 2x 10W speakers certified for Dolby Atmos and includes an optical audio port.

Finally, the display is operated by Android; it's not quite Google TV, but it's a version of Android TV with every feature, so you can utilize the screen for viewing films without even owning a PC or console. Powered up. Being a gaming monitor, it comes with some gaming features, too, such as a black equalizer, refresh rate overlay, and crosshair overlays. All that makes the Gigabyte S55U for just $499 a great deal.

I love when the price is broken down to inches (TV / monitor) or GB (SSD / HDD) when it comes down to items on sale in articles on TH, to make them sound like a huge deal. Especially when we're talking about things by the foot or by the TB!

    $9 per inch?? Sounds awesome!!

It would sound even much better if the writer would have said: Just $0.36 per millimeter!! Heck, it's almost free by the nanometer!!
Same for an SSD or HDD, the price by the KB is practically $0!😜
