DDR5 RAM is actually discounted for the first time in months — Corsair's 32GB Vengeance kit at Amazon is now one of the cheapest available options
Still eye-watering, though

For the first time in what seems like a lifetime, some sticks of DDR5 RAM have appeared in the Amazon deals section with a discount. RAM pricing has become exorbitant, driven by AI data center buildouts that are crushing the industry from every direction. This Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) is still $344 at Amazon, but that's 14% off and down from $399, and a high of nearly $410. Nature isn't healing just yet, but it's good to see there is still some hope out there. And remember, prices are likely going to go up even further, so waiting for this to blow over is probably not the best option.
Corsair Vengeance gear is some of the most popular RAM on the market, and while we haven't tested this specific kit, the similar Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000 C36 performs well. You won't get any RGB upgrades here, but 6000Mhz timing is a rare treat on the RAM market these days, with most "affordable" kits clocking in slower than this.
Not a mind-blowing deal, but this RAM is sold by Amazon, not a third-party, and sees a rare actual discount on sticks of RAM. Relative to inflated prices we've seen recently, this is a pretty good deal.
Obviously, paying $344 for 32GB of DDR5 RAM is tough to stomach, but this is the unfortunate reality of the new world we live in. This kit would have set you back $92 a year ago; since then, the prices have skyrocketed, and don't look set to return to Earth any time soon.
Crucially, the industry continues to warn us that these prices, and the shortages behind them, are going to continue or even get worse. Team Group warned in December that the pricing crisis had only just started, and Kingston warned users not to wait to upgrade RAM or SSD.
So yes, RAM prices are inflated, and yes, even this "deal" is expensive. However, this is where the prices are now. It's unfortunate, but the problem isn't going away.
A quick glance at PCPartPicker will reveal this isn't quite the cheapest DDR5 32GB on the market. Some kits, like this Crucial Pro 32GB, are $325, but are sold from a third-party and are barely in stock. Newegg has some Patriot Viper Venom 32GB for $339, but for the sake of $5, we'd heartily recommend the Corsair as a preferred brand. Corsair's Vengeance DDR5-5200 features in our best RAM guide for 192GB capacity, and is a trusted brand in the industry.

Darkbreeze I'll say it's still eye watering. Especially considering just a year ago I paid like 89.99 for a 32GB set of Flare X Ripjaws a year ago and now that same set is currently running like 369.99 at the same place I bought it then. And considering that exact Vengeance kit was only 90 dollars a year ago. Some deal.Reply -
beyondlogic yeah calling this a deal isn't really a deal lol. Pricing is just criminal atm. And its not just the ram its the nvme drives and the gpus jumping up as well. Literally bought a 4tb nvme for 313 pounds and thats shot up to 379 in 2 weeks.Reply -
MoxNix Dunno how anything can be considered a discount when they're gouging buyers for 4 times what it should be selling for.Reply
Call it what it is. A big ripoff not a discount deal. -
Shiznizzle Retailers are seeing the figures. Nobody is buying anything.Reply
An item on sale now for 379 that was just 4 months ago not even 70, is not a sale. My guess is also that Crucial uses Micron chips so a hard pass for what they did. No thanks. I am ok on my Am4 till i build my Am5 tomorrow.
Cant afford a new 2 TB M2 so not buying one. Stripping it out of the AM4. The Am4 will remain my backup. Not selling, not moving on, no donating it. Keeping it.
If nothing breaks i am good to go for 10 years. MSI Tomahawk 850 wifi, AM5 9600x, AMD 9060 XT 16gb and 32gb of 6000MT DDR5. I am set for AM5. No need to buy any price inflated items. Noting needed and i ibought it all before the prices got really offensive. -
spunner5 Jumped out to see if the "sale" is still on, but NOPE! It's at $430 USD today. I hope no one buys RAM at all so the manufacturers and resellers choke on their losses.Reply -

The problem is, that won't work this time because they don't actually CARE if you buy it. They have PLENTY of customers willing to buy any and all memory chips, assembled memory, nand, nand based storage devices, graphics cards and pretty much anything else to build out their AI systems. They just don't care. They know people aren't going to stop using their devices, so the companies buying everything up to build out their AI are just going to keep buying up anything that nobody else buys. Striking against a thing only works if it causes the thing problems. In this case, it isn't going to, so we are just casualties that they really couldn't care less about.spunner5 said:Jumped out to see if the "sale" is still on, but NOPE! It's at $430 USD today.
